BIOGRAPHY

I should find this part easy enough writing about myself such is the nature of being an athlete that you live inside your own bubble rarely thinking outside of training or results , And for me it has pretty much been that way since i became involved in cycling 18 years ago when I got my first bike the competitive edge in me came out straight away I would get my brother to time me as i raced around the lap in our estate trying to better the time which each ride.

Encouraged by my brother and my dad both of who are cyclist and passed on their passion , encourage is the important word because we were never pushed into training or cycling, I remember being turned back several times on the weekend spins by my dad or other guys like Philip Cassidy or seamus kennedy . in fact we both competed in swimming and cross country running when younger but for me it was all irrelevant next to the bike.

In the beginning i wasn't very good at all I understood the racing a bit better maybe tactically but i had to wait till i began a physical development allowing me to actually get involved and start to win some races as i rose up through the underage ranks in Ireland , and eventually taking my skills as it where abroad to continental Europe as a junior rider ,race wins in Belgium and high placing s at Europeans championships gave me the drive and confidence to take the next step and pursue my professional career on the bike this year 2010 will be spent racing with the look cycling team in Belgium, and competing with the irish national team again this year at different international events where i hope to grow further.

I certainly have no illusions about the difficulties to be faced and overcome but I will succeed I still have the love of bike racing found following my brother and my dad around Ireland to their races when i was younger and as long as that interest is there I wont stop.

Hopefully I will continue to update the site with good news and victories so stay tuned ........
